Taking a look at Wealth E&P’s Bear Market strategy according to our indicators
August 2, 2021
Welcome to Wealth Enhancement & Preservation’s Market Minute, where we get to update you on everything that happened in the financial markets this past week. My name is Armand Glassman, and I am a partner at Wealth E&P and work as the Chief Portfolio Manager and a Certified Financial Planner™.
As you can see from the following chart, the S&P 500 was down slightly last week and our Managed Growth portfolio was up slightly.
However, all of our indicators say that we should be risk-on, in other words, not in a Bear Market strategy.
Well what is a Bear Market strategy? To illustrate this, I put together an AlphaDroid strategy that just uses the S&P 500 with a Bear Market strategy; that is in yellow on the chart you see here.
The white line is the S&P 500 without a Bear Market strategy. The difference is with the Stormguard indicator, which is one of the four indicators that we use to determine when we should be risk-on and risk-off.
With that indicator changing to a Bear Market strategy in an S&P 500 ETF, it gives tremendous outperformance, as you can see from this chart. We hope to bring that to our tactical strategies.
If you have any questions for us, if you want a risk profile, or if you would like a retirement projection, please feel free to reach out or visit www.wealthep.com. Otherwise, stay tuned for our next Market Minute next week!
