Explaining how we quantify one of the components that make up our All-Weather Signal Matrix
September 13, 2021
Welcome to Wealth Enhancement & Preservation’s Market Minute, where we get to update you on everything that happened in the financial markets this week. My name is Armand Glassman, and I am a partner at Wealth E&P and work as the Chief Portfolio Manager and a Certified Financial Planner™.
Last week, all three major equity indices (the DOW, the S&P 500, and the NASDAQ 100) were down over 1%, but our All-Weather signal remains strong.
I want to talk a little bit about how we compose the All-Weather signal. It consists of four different information feeds that we get from outside sources. The first comes from Mojena, the second comes from the Sherman Sheet, the third comes from AlphaDroid, and the fourth comes from City National Rochdale.
Those of you who have been with us for a while will recognize the City National Rochdale speedometers. That's what we use — there are 20 of them, and they range in value from green to red.
When they're green, that's aggressive, but when they're red, that's very negative and conservative; yellow is kind of in the middle. We assign a numeric value to each of the colors and just add them up. Right now, the signal is 185, which is very aggressive. It can go as low as 20 and as high as 200. I hope this helps a bit to understand our All-Weather signal!
